Michelle Beshaw: Founder, artistic director, chief cook and bowl washer for Soup: A theatrical laboratory for fomenting and exploring ideas for new works. Betwixt and between larger projects and purposes, Soup convenes a handful of artists for an evening of chamber theater. Imagine a kind of urban campfire setting. Warm and intimate, the fire (soup burner) bathes its audience in a perfect balance of light ans shadow while performing occasional great and precarious leaps of faith and fancy, as clouds of exotic spices perfume the air... or so we hope. Favorite projects to emerge from the Soup pot include: A Thoundering Notion, prsented at Los Kabayitos Puppet Theatre, Like a Caterpillar, presented at The 220 Gallery, Great Small Works Spaghetti Dinner and HERE's Puppet Parlor, and The Napier Project, developed and presented as part of Mabou Mines Resident Artist Suite, 2000.
Michelle has worked with Puppeteers Cooperative, Target Margin, Fusion Melange Teamsters, and is a member of the Czechoslovak American Marionette Theatre with whom she was most recently seen, at La MaMa as Marguerite and Marina Oswald in The Life and Times of Lee Harvey Oswald. puppeteers Michelle Beshaw Deborah Beshaw |
